The Talk I Was Most Afraid To Give

I’ve given many talks. I coach people for a living on how to stand in front of a room and mean it.

This one scared me.

Not because of the audience. Not because of the stage. Because of what I decided to say out loud – in public – for the first time.

I live with an incurable illness. Most people in my life have no idea how hard that actually is. I’ve gotten very good at showing the positive side. Demonstrating okay. Performing fine.

This talk is me letting everyone in.

The idea at the center of it is something I know not just professionally, but in my bones: the future version of you – the one who is running out of time – would give anything to come back to the moments you’re sleepwalking through right now.

That’s not a metaphor for me. That’s my life.

And it has made me a better coach, a better speaker, and a more honest human being than I ever would have chosen to become on my own.

Presence isn’t a wellness trend. It’s the only thing that’s real.

Watch the talk below. And if it lands – send it to someone who needs it.
